Good ol’ Nichol’s

NICHOL’S a friendly neighborhood upscale american coffee shop – serving gourmet and classic traditional. It’s in Marina del Rey, 15 minutes away from LAX (don’t let the strip mall location deter you). Sometimes there is a 10min’s. to 15min.s wait but is definitely worth it. The attention to fresh high quality food.

The salad dressing’s are superb, made from scratch, the bleu and the ranch (with I usually pass on, is a must to try). The soups du jour, made from scratch (like carrot ginger, zucchini curry, and the chicken noodle) are partically delicious – served with homemade (usually warm, just baked) sourdough rolls.

They have numerous choices for vegetarians including: the Portobello Sandwich (broiled Portobello mushrooms, goat cheese, roasted marinated tomatoes, pesto, and field greens on grilled sour dough). The Mediterranean Quesadilla (I get it without the chicken breast), has avocado, pesto, feta, served with sour cream and fresh salsa. You can get a small Caesar for $4.75 or a regular Caesar which you can add chicken breast, Garden Burger strips, Cajun chicken breast or crispy chicken strips. Other great dishes are the Grilled Cobb Sandwich; chicken breast, avocado, bleu cheese, bacon, tomato, chopped greens, garlic mayonnaise on a grilled sour dough. The Daily Specials, New York steaks, $16.50, Fish entrees $14-$16, are always available. The hamburgers are $8, ground fresh daily. For a build your own omelette; basil, herbs, sun dried tomatoes, bleu cheese, feta, goat cheese, Kalamata olives to name a few choices.

The usual coffee shop breakfast fare is exceptional. The Crabcake Benedict is noteworthy. They have generous kid portions as well. Not to mention keeping the Arnolds and coffee flowing! The price is above average but your getting way above average! You’ll keep on coming back for more like we did over the past 10 years. It’s really one of those gems of a restaurant. Enjoy! 4375 Glencoe Ave. Marina del Rey 90292. I wish I had a Website to share with you, but there one of the few places left on Earth that doesn’t have one.
